Tarrantino had the #1 movie in the country. It has been a few weeks and it is still near the top of the box office leader board. For a director known for his edge, it seems an unlikely position.

Having finally taken the plunge and received my California Physician’s Recommendation, I decided to try a hash [...]

This weekend I downloaded “Shadow Complex” from the XBox Live online store. I had heard that it was cool, and I hadn’t done much gaming lately, and it was only 1200 Microsoft points, which seems like 12 dollars, but is actually 15 (I hate stored value systems that don’t run at an easy, even-to-the-dollar ratio, but that’s a gripe for another time). So, away I went!

Butter…Everything tastes better with butter. Including, Julie and Julia, a delightful little movie starring Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as Julie Powell. You might think this is a chick flick…and well…maybe it is. But, it’s also a foodie flick. You can probably get over the whiny Julie Powell just to love and live vicariously through [...]

Hollywood likes to work in pairs. Baz Luhrman had to cancel his Alexander the Great movie because Oliver Stone beat him to production. A couple of years ago there were two Truman Capote biopics. I’m sure if your search your subconscious, you’ll remember skads more.
We thought it would be fun to roll the clock back [...]

Studios regularly release movies without screening them for critics. Usually these are in the ‘B’ movie category, not their Mega-Hits. When it is a blockbuster, no screening pretty much always means it is a huge steaming pile. This time, however, Hasbro had an explanation. It seems they blame the fact that Transformers was a full [...]

The John Hughes Mixtape

I don’t consider my self a child of the 80’s, but I was a child in the 80’s. One of the biggest distinctions is my experience with John Hughes movies. Reading through his numerous tributes and obituaries I realized I never saw one of his films in a theater, but I had [...]

Drag Me To Hell was AWESOME.

It was the Three Stooges meeting the Excorcist on a train through Awesometown.

Sam Raimi has proven with Drag Me To Hell that he could direct Evil Dead 4 without it sucking.

Hold on. Let me start at the beginning.

There I sat, jaw hanging, blue-and-red 3D glasses [edit: 4D glasses] clinging to my face, gaping at the pages of Grant Morrison’s Superman add-on to the Final Crisis “Event”.  If you are into both comics and weed, I’ll save you a review: run, do not walk, to your nearest comix dispensary, grab your favorite sativa [...]

So I’m watching a movie where Adam Sandler is playing a character who is obviously designed to closely resemble Adam Sandler (in fact, much real young Adam Sandler footage is used to backstory the character) *and* I’m at the premiere where the “real” Adam Sandler is in the audience.  Oh, if only I had a [...]
